The corporate media in America has left us in an ideological desert with its sensationalized content that lacks substance and is blind to power. The 21st century needs a new dialogue and new frameworks with which to think about our politics, history, economics, systems, and institutions. Of course, it’s not a complete desert out there thanks to the internet and independent media, but I would also like to contribute to that new conversation as I think we all should. It is the only way forward. With this newsletter, I will release weekly pieces talking about politics, class, history, hegemony, media, institutions, culture, technology, spirituality, and more.
I will also release the essays that accompany the episodes of my podcast Shepherd’s Musings so you can have all of the sources for everything I have referenced and talked about; never forget to cite your sources.
2020 and the ensuing years are going to be chaotic, unpredictable, humbling, and in some ways horrifying, but we must keep our heads up and march on through to find and expand the oasis in the desert.
